Allergic Reaction

So Addison has been sick since the 1st of February basically. She had a slight cold that developed into a horrible cough so I took her in and they put her on Amoxicillian for an upper respiratory infection. This had no effect so they switched meds which caused an allergic reaction within 2 days. We went back in and she was taken off her medicine and decongestant and put on a Benadryl type medicine to clear the rash but by that night her rash multiplied instead of getting better so we went back to the doctor and he agreed she was not progressing. Again, we switched medicine and that finally worked. She began clearing up by that evening. So last week was very scary for us. I had to take almost the entire week off work. We were worried about her not staying hydrated enough or that her cold may develop into pneumonia, so they told us to watch her closely, fortunately none of that happened and she didn't need to be hospitalized, thank goodness.

Other Addison updates: as of February 6th she has been bottle free, we started taking the bottle away after she turned 1 during the daytime hours and she continued to have her morning and night bottle but she really didn't miss it much during the day so we easily switched to the sippy by the 6th, now we're just battling the teething pain. Oh and as you can tell by the picture above Addison loves drinking from the straw. We just tried this with her one night and she never had a problem so if I can't get her to drink, which was the case when she was sick, I just gave her something with a straw.

I'm so sorry to hear about her allergic reaction, Vanessa. I remember when Missy broke out when she was just about the same age, and how scarey it was. She even itched in her ears and throat from the hives.

So glad to hear she is finally improving.

I send my love and prayers,
Aunt Tami

Holy cow! I just saw this finally (I'm a bit behind on the whole blog thing right now). I have NEVER seen anything like that. Glad she's okay now. You up for meeting us in Lincoln this week?
