We thought we'd better take some pictures in some of the outfits before she grew out of them. While her eyes were open we were lucky enough to catch a few cute photos.
This one was just funny so I had to add it.Many have asked how the birth went so I will give you the update. I had a scheduled doctor's appointment on the 26th at 2:00 p.m. where they scheduled me to be induced on the 27th. After my dr.'s appt. I was having closer contractions so we hung around Lincoln for awhile. Once they were about 5 minutes apart we decided to get to the hospital where they put me on the monitors and finally made the decision to keep me overnight and start the Pitocin at 4:00 a.m. From this point on things become a blur as everything went so fast, by 7:00 a.m. the doctor broke my water and contractions were strong and immediate so of course I screamed for the epideral. I went from being dilated to 4 to 8 in a matter of Scottie leaving and returning from breakfast. We were shocked things were moving so fast, by noon I was pushing and Addison arrived at 2:56 p.m.
There were a few scares like not being able to breath because they gave me too much of the epideral, then the baby was in the wrong position so they tried several things to get her to turn but were unsuccessful, once she was born her oxygen level was a little low so they kept her in the nursery for awhile. Apparantly I lost a little too much blood and I kept passing out which prevented me from getting to the nursery to see her so it wasn't until about 6:30 that evening that I got to hold her.
We were finally released on Saturday afternoon after we waited for some tests on Addison. She was a little jaundice but not enough to be under lights so we were okay to go home with specific instructions to get her in to the pediatrician on Monday which we did in Nebraska City where they had to do another blood draw but again levels were low enough to monitor at home.
So now were finally home. We had a lot of company Saturday evening and Sunday and my mom is here now to help out of which I'm very grateful. I don't know how all the laundry and cooking would get done.
It's nice to be home where we're comfortable and can enjoy our time with Addison. Things are going well and we'll keep you updated on Miss Addison.
Well, Addison should be here any day now. I went ahead and took leave from work as I'm having contractions at 10 minutes apart and my doctor didn't think I should be driving. I've been resting a lot or as much as I can anyway. Last Thursday I started having contractions at work and they continued to get closer into Friday so I finally called the doctor's office and they said to get up to the hospital. I ended up at the clinic because labor and delivery was full so they checked me there and had me on the monitor. Basically my contractions weren't consistant enough and I was only dilated to 1 so they sent me home. Mom went ahead and came up as we feared if I did have it she wouldn't make it through the snow storm. We did end up getting nearly a foot of snow so it was a good thing she made it here. It was nice to spend that time together even though Addison decided it wasn't quite time to join us.
Monday I had my regular appointment so mom went with me and they said I'm dilated to 3 so when my contractions get closer to 5 to come back up. Now I'm just waiting at home. I knew people were probably wondering what's going on so I thought I'd better update everyone.
Well, we went to the doctor yesterday and they did an ultrasound. Everything looks well. They estimate her at 6 lbs. 6 oz. Right now it's just a waiting game. Scottie told the doctor he believes she'll be here before Christmas and after checking me the doctor agreed that this could be a possibility so at this point we'll just wait and see. I think we have most everything ready for her. We got the last of what we needed that day so that's a relief. We'll continue to keep everyone updated each week.
